Neil Goldenberg, MD, PhD is Director of Clinical Science and Safety and Venous Thromboembolism Trials at CPC Clinical Research. He is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Medicine at the University of Colorado, where he serves as Associate Director of the Mountain States Regional Hemophilia and Thrombosis Center and as Co-Director of the Pediatric Thrombosis and Stroke Programs at The Children's Hospital, Colorado. He is also the Co-Chair of the recently-formed Antithrombotic Trials Leadership and Steering (ATLAS) group, formed by CPC Clinical Research and Worldwide Clinical Trials (www.wwctrials.com) as part of an Academic Research Organization (ARO)-Contract Research Organization (CRO) collaborative model for the design, execution, and oversight of large industry-sponsored clinical trials of antithrombotic agents and devices.
Dr. Goldenberg earned his B.A. at Williams College (Williamstown, MA) and his M.D. at McGill University (Montreal, Canada). He completed a combined residency in Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of South Florida (Tampa, FL), followed by a fellowship in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology/Bone Marrow Transplantation at the University of Colorado, where he also attained his Ph.D. in Clinical Science/Clinical Investigation.
Dr. Goldenberg is a former American Society of Hematology (ASH) Scholar, National Hemophilia Foundation Fellow, and National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute Career Development Awardee. Presently, he is a panelist on the American College of Chest Physicians 9th Guideline on Antithrombotic Therapy, a member of the Writing Committee of the American Heart Association Scientific Statement on Iliofemoral Deep Venous Thrombosis, Massive/Submassive Pulmonary Embolism, and Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension, and a faculty member of the American Society of Hematology Clinical Research Training Institute.
Dr. Goldenberg is currently the national Principal Investigator of an investigator-initiated, NIH- and pharmaceutical industry-sponsored multicenter randomized controlled clinical trial of the duration of anticoagulant therapy for venous thrombosis in young patients. In addition, he is a lead investigator for an institution-based prospective inception cohort study of venous thromboembolism and arterial ischemic stroke in the young. He also serves on either the Steering Committee or Data Monitoring Committee of a number of national/international multicenter trials in peripheral vascular disease
(3 as Chair). In the past several years, he has been the lead author of studies published in the New England Journal of Medicine, Annals of Internal Medicine, Blood, Lancet Neurology, Journal of Clinical Oncology, Haematologica, Pediatrics, and Journal of Pediatrics, among others.
